Welcome to Messages (“we,” “our,” or “us”), developed by Chotu Infosoft.

Messages is a default SMS and MMS messaging application that allows users to send, receive, and manage text messages on Android devices.

By installing and using our application, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

A. SMS & Messaging Permissions

Our app requires the following permissions:

READ_SMS
SEND_SMS
RECEIVE_SMS
RECEIVE_MMS
READ_CONTACTS
READ_PHONE_STATE

These permissions are used only to:

Send and receive SMS/MMS messages
Display conversations
Identify message senders using contacts
Provide core messaging functionality

Important: We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your SMS or MMS messages to any external server. All messages remain stored locally on your device.

B. Call Functionality

CALL_PHONE: Allows users to directly call contacts from within the app.

C. Media & Storage Permissions

READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO: Used to allow users to attach and send media files such as images, videos, and audio.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Used on older Android versions to save and manage media files received via messages.

D. Notifications & Background Services

POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used to notify users about incoming messages.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE: Ensures reliable message sending and receiving.
WAKE_LOCK: Keeps the device active during message processing.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Restarts messaging services after device reboot.

E. Scheduling Features

SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Used to support scheduled message sending (if enabled by the user).

F. Device & Diagnostic Information

We may collect limited non-personal information such as:

Device model
Android version
App version
Crash logs
Anonymous usage data

This data is used only to improve app performance and stability.

3. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect:

Advertising ID (AD_ID)
Device information
User interaction data
Approximate location

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor crashes and improve app performance.

Google Analytics for Firebase

4. Advertising & Advertising ID

Our app uses Advertising ID (AD_ID) to show personalized and relevant ads through Google AdMob.

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal data or SMS content with any third parties.

We may share limited non-personal data with trusted services like Google AdMob and Firebase for analytics and advertising purposes.

6. Data Security

All user data, including messages, is stored locally on your device. We use standard security practices to protect your information.

7. Data Retention & User Control

All messages remain on your device unless deleted by you.
You can revoke permissions anytime from device settings.
You can uninstall the app to remove all data associated with it.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service Provider does not use the Application to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Application does not address anyone under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case the Service Provider discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, the Service Provider will immediately delete this from their servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact the Service Provider (chotuinfosoft@gmail.com) so that they will be able to take the necessary actions..
